The Details From Alaska Destination Weddings

The Many Special Details From Alaska Destination Weddings

There are so many details that go into your special day. Everything from dresses, centerpieces, linens, and music. The list may feel endless, but have no fear! Your Alaska wedding photographer is here to help! When it comes to Alaska destination weddings, Jessi Marri Photography is your photographer team! You can rest assured knowing that each detail will be captured in a beautiful, creative way.

Here are just a couple of my favorite details to capture at Alaska destination weddings!

The dress

Your gown is probably one of the main things that you’ve been dreaming about since you were a young girl. Taking photos of a beautiful bride on her wedding day, in that moment she sees herself in her dress, is indescribable. That is one of the most exciting and emotional moments of the whole day.

Having that memory in photographs is so special. Looking back at those photos with your children or grandchildren will make it even more worth while!

Decorations – big and small!

You have worked so hard. You have been envisioning this wedding so much.

“What colors do we want?”

“Centerpieces? What do they look like?”

“I want a unique guest book…”

You get the idea.

Whatever you decide, Jessi Marri Photography, your Alaska wedding photographer, will photograph every detail with ease. You will get to go through your images and see all of the beautiful details again, remembering that all of the planning and prep was worth it.

The venue

Location is very important for Alaska destination weddings. Jacquie and Sean tied the knot at Harbor Light Assembly of God and danced the night away at the Nolan Center. Eventsmith did a fantastic job putting all of the details together that you can see featured here today! The decor that was placed throughout their locations tied together so well. Remembering what everything looked like in your venue will always remind you just how beautifully everything came together on your wedding day.

Your Go-To Wrangell Wedding Photographer!

Being Your Go-To Wrangell Wedding Photographer!

Exploring Wrangell, Alaska was one of the most amazing experiences I’ve ever had. While our team was there to capture Jacquie and Sean’s Alaska wedding, we fell in love. During our time there, we gathered beautiful images of Jacquie and Sean before, during, and after their wedding. As their Wrangell wedding photographer, I used all of the necessary tools to get the perfect photos for them to display in their home for years to come.

And today, we want to share with everyone why Jessi Marri Photography is your go-to Wrangell wedding photographer!

Timeless family portraits

Some of the most important images I capture as a destination wedding photographer are family portraits. I wanted to feature a few of Jacquie and Sean’s family photos in today’s blog to give everyone a good idea of what to expect. These are a few of the photos that they can proudly display in their home.

There will be many images to cherish from your wedding day. Make sure family portraits are high on that list.

Posed and candid moments

So many moments are shared throughout a wedding day. And as a Wrangell wedding photographer, I make sure that each moment is captured with ease. There’s nothing like going back and reminiscing on the hugs and laughter at your wedding. It’s great to look back at the beautiful posed portraits with your loved ones.

Your memories are in great hands with Jessi Marri Photography.

Highlighting the wedding party

If you have bridesmaids and groomsmen, it’s safe to say that you will gather together to get many beautiful photos. The people in your wedding party are incredibly important to you. So, we always make sure to get photos of the whole group. Highlighting those special to the couple is one of my favorite things as a wedding photographer.

Getting Ready For Your Destination Wedding Photography

Destination Wedding Photography & How To Best Prepare

A lot of preparation goes into planning for destination wedding photography. Sure, it sounds like that may be a difficult task, but it really isn’t! It is actually one of the best parts about being destination wedding photographers. As I share with you some beautiful photos from Katelyn and Tom’s wedding at the Dreams Punta Cana Resort & Spa, you will walk away with great information on preparing for your destination wedding photography!

1.) Decisions, decisions…

One of the really important decisions you will come across when planning your destination wedding will be your photographer. Do you hire the resort photographer? Do you bring one along with you? Ultimately, that is up to you! But just know, it isn’t the best idea to have both there photographing your wedding. It’s best to stick with just one company so there is consistency all around!

2.) Scheduling!

Even at a destination wedding, there will be a timeline. And with that, it’s necessary to go over your wedding schedule with your photographer in advance. This helps everyone out and ensures that the day will run smoothly!

3.) More than just one session!

You’re probably thinking, “wait, we get more photos than just the ones from our wedding day?!” That’s right! This is one of my favorite things about being a destination wedding photographer! I always make sure to tell my couples to prepare themselves to put their wedding attire back on and do one more session within the 48-hours following their wedding!

You’re traveling to a unique place for your wedding, the most important time in your life, why not get all of the photos that you can?

Did you know that destination wedding photography isn’t as expensive as you may think? Get in touch with us today and let’s chat about your upcoming destination wedding!

3 Reasons Why You Need A Houston Proposal Photographer

Reasons Why You Need A Houston Proposal Photographer To Capture This Special Moment!

Russell reached out to us to inquire about taking photos of the special moment that’s featured here on today’s blog. And we couldn’t help but jump on board with his plan! He planned their proposal to take place at the Water Wall in Houston. There, he dropped to one knee to ask the love of his life for her hand in marriage. It was even more special when she said “yes!” and the tears began to flow. Their proposal reminds us that this is why we love what we do. As a Houston proposal photographer, it was such an honor to be there to make images of this special moment that they will forever cherish!

Today, we’re going to share with you 3 reasons why you need a Houston proposal photographer if you’re planning on popping the question!

1.) Telling the story

As photographers, it’s always so great for us to be able to tell the story a proposal! We followed this lovely couple and made sure to be in the area when it came time for Russell to ask the most important question he’ll ever ask! That’s when we make ourselves known that we’ve been there with them this whole time! It’s so wonderful that they’ll have every moment leading up to their proposal, during their proposal, and after, to look back on for a lifetime.

2.) The real, raw reactions

Being there in the moment someone gets engaged is unlike anything else we experience as Houston proposal photographers. Being there to capture the actual moment the proposal happens, with the hugs, tears, and laughter that will follow, is something we are happy to help our couples cherish and share with their loved ones!

3.) The moment you never want to forget

Although you’ll probably never forget how you felt in that moment, you will definitely want photos of that moment to look back on. These are photos you can share with your loved ones, like stated above. You can also display some of them at your wedding or share with your children in the future. It’s safe to say that you can’t go wrong with investing in a professional Houston proposal photographer for this day!

Get in touch with Jessi Marri Photography today and let’s talk about your proposal plans!

League City Carpet Cleaning With Spotless Flooring

League City Carpet Cleaning

Sometimes I see other small businesses and in my mind I compare them to how we operate as a photography business. We as professionals must know our equipment and our trade very well and that’s across the board with every trade. There are skills that we must spend years developing into. We must also develop an eye for certain things and that’s a huge part of what separates the professionals who excel from those who just don’t.

A few weeks ago we were pre-planning at a venue that needed carpet cleaning in League City and was happy to see the inspector on site just because I’m always curious. He was from a small veteran owned business but from the looks of it, and the amount of knowledge he had, I first thought he was from a franchise company. We needed to have our house cleaned at the time so I spent a few minutes with the inspector talking to him.

He pointed out multiple things that I never would have noticed, other than the floor was dirty. Interestingly this floor care guy told me so much that he saw in the floor that I thought he was there to solve a mystery. I tell ya, he could have worked with Scooby-Doo and done well. But this is what I was originally talking about, having an eye for things as a professional. He explained how unusual track marks find their way all over the carpeted areas, explained how to prevent those from happening in the future, and knew exactly how to clean them.

As I took interest in what he was doing and spent a few minutes listening along with the venue manager we both learned a few things. The floor guy spoke about ways to prevent the floors from getting to a point of no return and really it was common sense, but once again, not something any would really think about. Curious George I am, I listened and started to gain a respect for this well-educated professional.

And it was eye opening to think that there are professionals for each little service industry, just like us photographers, who master their art over years of experience. If you’re interested in getting to know my new friend Daniel and his business, check out his League City carpet cleaning company. You can visit his website here.

Kirby & Reece – Houston Family Photographer

Houston Family Photographer
Kirby and Reece

While being a Houston wedding photographer, I have had wonderful opportunities to work with my couples again. Kirby is one that I have had the honor of working with throughout so many great milestones in her life. Getting to see Reece grow up over the last year has been so sweet! As a Houston family photographer, there’s nothing I love more than working with clients during each milestone and seeing everyone grow up!

Tips For Getting The Best Family Photos

As a Houston family photographer, I am here to help you achieve the best family photos for you to display in your home! I am available to answer any and all questions that you may have leading up to your family photography session. Here are a few tips on how to best get ready for your upcoming family photo session with me…

  1. Have one formal outfit and one casual outfit. This gives a lot of variety to your photos. But make sure there is limited print on the outfits that you choose. You don’t want there to be a lot of distraction that will take away from you in your photos!
  2. Aim to schedule your session in the morning or in the afternoon about 2 hours before sunset. The afternoon sun can be harsh and not very flattering for photos.

There are other things you may be curious about or need answers to… If that’s the case, don’t hesitate to give me a call or send me an email today!

Challenges of Houston Infant Photography

Houston Infant Photography Jessi Marri

The Challenges of Houston Infant Photography – Jessi Marri Photography

While I LOVE shooting children, when it comes to shooting Houston infant photography, there are challenges to shooting newborns. Over the years, you tend to come across them, which only forces you to not only become a better photographer, but also a better nurturer for infants.

For instance, newborn shoots require both the photographer and the parents to follow the lead of the infant. But, the secret to successful infant photography, is to plan the shoot to where the infant is at their most comfortable and relaxed. This means doing everything possible to ensure that the infant is calm, and collected.

Challenges of Houston Infant PhotographyHouston Infant Photography Jessi Marri

  • A Cranky Kid

Now the crankiness isn’t the fault of the infant themself. You have to put yourself in their shoes (or crib, in this case.) “I just got to this place called Life a couple of days ago! I’m still trying to figure out why it’s so bright and loud! And I’m hungry. And I’m sleepy.” If you felt like this, you would probably start crying too. But, there are ways to make it comfortable and even fun for the infant, which I’ll cover in the next paragraph!

  • Positioning/Repositioning

The infant may be wide awake and understandably doesn’t want to leave mama or papa because they just found that perfect sleeping position.

  • Flashing Lights

Let’s say during the shoot, everything has been going great. The angles are nice, the infant is giving us nothing but golden shots, and everything is great. But then, one shot of flash hits and they wake up, crying and reaching for mama and papa again. This can bring a shoot to a complete stop! But, there are ways around this too.

How I “Challenge” These Challenges

  • Schedule Shoot 4-5 Days After Birth

This is usually the time period when the infant is still sleeping for the majority of their day. This makes it easier to position, take care of the child in between shooting, and get those cute shots like the one on the right!

  • Make Sure Child is Well Fed

I find that this helps with making sure the infant is very relaxed and comfortable during the shoot. This is one of the major things that lessens/gets rid of the crankiness!

  • Shoot Around Nap Time

Shooting around nap time is perfect, because this is the time when the child is feeling sleepy, which also makes it easier to shoot. This is another one of the major things that lessens/gets rid of the crankiness!

  • Comfortable Shooting Space, Good Shooting Techniques & Props Tailored to Infant Photography

Our props, such as our chairs, beanbag, etc. are made specifically for newborns and children, in order to make sure your newborn is on cloud 9 during our shoot.

  • When & How to Use Flash

Also, the perfect time to use flash is Never. We at Jessi Marri Photography only use natural light for all infant photography sessions. This is not only because flash is unpleasant for the newborn, but also because using flash brings out an unnatural skin tone in newborn images that isn’t appealing to their eyes.

Altogether, covering these bases are essential to having a great shoot. And, also, who likes a crying baby?? An unhappy kid always makes unhappy parents. So photographers AND parents, take notes the next time you go for an infant photography shoot!

Natural Artistic Imagery

There is nothing I enjoy more than shooting with my wedding couples outside! There are so many beautiful venues where you can capture amazing images but there is something about the natural beauty of what the Earth has to offer us that really gets my creative side pumping! Gorgeous sunsets and amazing skies are my FAVORITE thing to incorporate into my sessions!

Image

Having traveled across the nation and back as well as internationally for my weddings….. I have determined that no matter what “style” a couple may claim to have, EVERY couple loves great photos of them with an AMAZING sky in the background. Whether its big and beautiful with puffy white clouds or dark and stormy outside, my couples and I have managed to catch some incredible imagery simply using what God has created. Simple. Natural. Breathtaking.

Big Things Are Happening!

I am so excited for this next season getting ready to happen with the business. As some of you know, I started doing weddings when I was 18 and living in Florida. The past 7 years have been an incredible journey of growing in my skill and developing the company. I have gone though so many phases of change over the years and I am so excited for the one coming up. I am not going to spill ALL of the beans just yet but I just HAD to share some of my excitement with all of you! The past 2+ years of getting to do this full time has been such a blessing. Sure there have been ups and downs but all in all, I wouldn’t trade this thing for anything in the world! There is nothing more exciting or rewarding than getting to do what you love every single day!

I’m looking forward to all the BIG THINGS that are coming this year! I’ll share more soon! Promise!
