Preparing for your Houston engagement photography session can be so much fun, especially if you set your sights on making it an event to remember! Having photographed my fair share of engagement sessions, I’m happy to share what I have picked up over to years. With that, what I share today will be immensely beneficial for couples preparing for their upcoming engagement photography session.

Let’s Prep!

1.) The Outfits

There is something about the right outfit that just makes us feel like a million bucks. Make sure that you plan to wear clothes that are flattering. And don’t stray away from the idea of a theme. This is the perfect opportunity to showcase your styles. It’s also important to keep the level of the outfits the same. If you plan on wearing a formal dress, make sure your fiancé is wearing something that compliments your beautiful choice. You can see the similarities in the clothing choices in the Houston engagement photography session featured today!

2.) The Timing & Locations

Did you know that the perfect time for a Houston engagement photography session is in the morning or in the afternoon, a few hours before sunset? So, the timeframe would be in the morning between the hours of 9:00am-11:00am. The afternoon timeframe would be between the hours of 4:00pm-6:00pm or 7:00pm depending on sunset times.

Pro Tip:
The early-mid afternoon sun is HARSH! Try to avoid afternoon sessions at all costs!

The session featured today that happened at George Ranch just screamed everything Texas! This session was full of sweet surprises… From the big open skies, train tracks, fences that look like they came out of a movie, the new Longhorn friend we made, and the Ford F-350… It’s safe to say that this couple loves Texas just as much as I do!

Thank You Isn’t Enough…

Battleship Texas Engagement Session – Jessi Marri Photography

Today’s post about this Battleship Texas engagement session hits very close to home for me. This session was a few weeks in the making and today I am sharing a few of my favorites with you all.  I have a huge heart for our military and I honestly can’t thank them enough for everything that they do.  They sacrifice so much to go out there to serve and protect our great country. And we want to honor that. Today and forever.

The Romance…

This amazing couple has been together for a long time. During their time together, there have been years that they have not been able to see one another. While he was stationed in Japan, he sent her a beautiful bouquet of roses and not long after she got them, he called her on FaceTime, asked if she got her flowers and popped the question. The ring was hidden inside the roses! Talk about romantic!

The Fight…

Active military couples like this one face struggles that many others out there don’t have to. For most of us, we get to go home to our loved ones every night. For our military, that’s not always the case. From time to time, they have to leave for months or years to fight for our freedom. This couple here went a few years between seeing one another, yet were so determined to stay together that they did everything in their power to make that work.

The Recognition…

We recognize how hard it is to do what our active military and veterans have done for us. It’s recognized that so much sacrifice has happened in their lives so they can fight. And we recognize that we are free, because of the brave. Today, I just want to give a special thank you to our armed forces members – current and past. So, from us to you, thank you.

Little G Farm Engagement – Jessi Marri Photography

This couple featured today has so much love for one another. It’s something that can be seen through their smiles and kisses shared in the photos. It was such a joy to capture this time in their lives at the precious Little G Farm. Little G Farm is located on the south side of Houston and it was the perfect spot for this engagement session.

Location:

The Little G Farm is one of the best spots around for photo shoots. With 4 acres of open field, a pond, and gorgeous oak trees, this location made this Little G Farm engagement session one to remember! All of the different elements at this farm called for something different in every photo! (And as a photographer, that’s something I love!)

The Couple:

We were truly able to highlight this couple during their Little G Farm engagement session. With the different elements that the location offered to the sunset perfect pictures, this beautiful couple and I really enjoyed our time together at the farm, capturing the true, unyielding love that they share.

Tips:

Photographing any type of session at the Little G Farm can be quite fun and adventurous. They welcome families, engagements, commercial photography, and even video shoots to come out and use their property! Some tips I’d like to share would be to definitely make sure to utilize as many elements on the property as possible. If you are doing a family session, go above and beyond and use some of the animals that they have. If you’re going for an engagement session, definitely utilize sunset to get some great romantic photos that really show off the couple!
